Some IAG 2007 appliances have issues with Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, most commonly when it is installed onto the appliance by the administrator, very rarely when it had been installed as part of the appliance image pre-installed by the appliance vendor. See
MSKB936594 for details of the symptoms, which can sometimes appear to be rather bizarre.
Service Pack 2 seems to break some network connections in conjunction with ISA. Symptoms can be:
- very slow network performance (though in many cases with or without SP2, the reasons are more commonly with networking hardware like full duplex vs. half duplex issues),
- selectively breaking TCP connections inside Network Connector, like connections from some versions of Outlook to Exchange servers,
- issues connecting to domain controllers for domain user logons to the IAG box (problems accessing profiles or GPO), even though the steps in Setting up an IAG appliance from scratch have been followed.
To resolve these issues, set these registry keys (
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters):
